Alisa Nelson is uniquely qualified to talk about mental health for patients and their families being that she has seen our medical system from both sides; as a heart mom and as a NICU nurse.
One of our goals with our film is to open a conversation about mental health for medically fragile children and their families as they deal with the immense stress of managing the child’s condition. We bring up this topic, not in opposition to, but in partnership with our medical establishments.
Alisa Nelson is uniquely qualified to talk about this subject, being that she is both the mother of a child with CHD and a NICU nurse. Like the heart mom in our story, Heather Morgan, Alisa sees this issue from both sides of the table, as a provider and the mother of a patient.
